DESCRIPTION:

This latter-day parable focuses on two brothers. Peter Rogers is an ambitious, hard-driving attorney. Bob Rogers is a thoughtful, contemplative doctor who decides to forsake his practice to do missionary work in war-torn China. When Peter's young son is tragically killed in an accident, he visits his brother and learns first-hand the importance of compassion and charity. In a world rocked by strife and pain, love can overcome and triumph.

The role of the idealistic young Dr, Bob Rogers would prove prescient for actor DeForest Kelley (1920-'99), who later found worldwide fame as Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy on the classic television series Star Trek.

Douglas Dumbrille (1889-1974) was a popular and recognizable character actor who appeared in such classics as Frank Capra's Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936) and Cecil B. DeMille's Biblical blockbuster The Ten Commandments (1956). Richard Loo (1903-'83), born in Hawaii of Chinese descent, played his share of Asian villains in the 1930s and 40s in such films as The Keys of the Kingdom (1944) and Back to Bataan (1945). Late in his career he tangled with James Bond in The Man With the Golden Gun (1974).

BONUS: A Stand In For Dan: This public service production explores the humanitarian efforts of the Community Chest of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Hosted by screen legend Dick Powell, the cast includes Regis Toomey, himself a Pittsburgh native, and was directed by Ted Post.

An ambitious lawyer discovers the healing power of compassion after turning to his brother, a missionary doctor working in China, for support in the wake of a devastating family tragedy. DeForest Kelley and Pierre Watkin star.
