A mild-mannered Englishman leading a bus tour across Italy, Stanley Thrumm (David McCallum), wins a fortune at a Riviera casino, making him a target for Carla Moretti (Sylva Koscina), a beautiful adventuress. Convincing the love-struck Stanley to invest his winnings in Switzerland to avoid paying British taxes, Carla persuades him to hand over the cash to her partner in crime (Domenico Modugno), who promptly absconds with the loot.
