DESCRIPTION:

Despite a decade of great success at The Hudson Bay trading post, and a reputation for integrity, Donald Norton is passed over for promotion by his boss, John Corrigal, because the old man refuses to trust a half-breed Indian. The coveted position is awarded to shady Dale Millington who is courting Lorraine Layard, the woman Donald is in love with. Donald can never express his feelings for Lorraine, because a marriage between a white woman and half-breed is strictly forbidden. He quits his job and is immediately hired to manage a competing fur company. In a few months, Millington's ongoing policy of cheating the Indian trappers is about to explode into violence, and Donald Norton may be the only man in the territory that can prevent bloodshed.

George Walsh, brother of famed director Raoul Walsh, leads a fine cast which includes Tyrone Power, Sr., father of the legendary Hollywood heartthrob. Director B. Reeves Eason coaxes powerful performances from his actors, and in characteristic fashion, excels in the action sequences. With beautiful Canadian location photography and set design, The Test Of Donald Norton is a first-class production from start to finish.
