Set during the British Raj in India, the story follows Captain Carruthers (Roger Livesey), who uncovers a plot to smuggle arms into the Northwest Frontier. He seeks to establish a peace treaty with the ruler of Tokot, Mohammed Khan. However, Khan's brother, Prince Ghul (Raymond Massey), assassinates Khan to seize power. Prince Azim (Sabu), the rightful heir, escapes and allies with the British to thwart Ghul's rebellion. The film is noted for its vibrant Technicolor cinematography and Sabu's compelling performance.
