DESCRIPTION:

Unemployed singer Homer Tompkins is an easy mark for conmen who set him up as a highly-paid professional listener. People pay a premium to spill their troubles to Homer while his bosses secretly record the conversations to blackmail their clients. The purpose of the scam is to trick millionaire "Utah" Pete into revealing the location of his secret goldmine. But honest Homer catches wind of the scheme and determines to turn the tables on his crooked employers.

Thanks For Listening features radio star Pinky Tomlin performing his 1937 radio hit "The Love Bug." As a student at the University of Oklahoma he penned the composition "The Object Of My Affection" for his coed girlfriend, and the tune became a national hit. Ella Fitzgerald sang the song at her Apollo Theater audition, and the two became lifelong friends. Tomlin went on to a busy career as a singer, songwriter, bandleader and starred in a handful of modestly budgeted but successful motion pictures
