DESCRIPTION:

Tex, a pro football player homesick for Texas, returns to the Lone Star State and finds that rustlers are running rampant. Tex's dad, the local lawman, has vanished, a victim of the ruthless gang. The rustlers now have one of their own men serving as sheriff. Publicly Tex poses as a singing, guitar-playing drifter, while secretly helping the ranchers in their struggle for survival. When the rustlers realize that Tex is the ranchers' secret leader, they trump up a murder charge and get him arrested. Tex's football teammates arrive and engage the rustlers in the Superbowl of saloon brawls.

As a teenager, Italian-American New Yorker Tex Fletcher (1910-87) actually became a cowboy in South Dakota, and later parlayed this into a radio career. Grand National imported the singer to Hollywood to turn him into a sagebrush star. When Grand National went bankrupt, Tex's debut feature, Six-Gun Rhythm, became his ONLY feature.
