DESCRIPTION:

THE KNOCKOUT (1914): To prove his manhood to Minta Durfee, 'Fatty' Arbuckle challenges the heavyweight champion to a fight. Unfortunately for all concerned, Charlie Chaplin is brought in to referee. GETTING ACQUAINTED (1914): Charlie Chaplin and Mack "Ambrose" Swain are walking in the park with their spouses when they decide to swap wives, much to the ladies' chagrin. Later re-titled A Fair Exchange. MABEL AND FATTY'S WASH DAY (1915): A cute misunderstanding while doing laundry causes love to blossom between 'Fatty' Arbuckle and Mabel Normand. Too bad they're both married. THE ADVENTURER (1917): Chaplin plays an escaped convict who redeems himself by saving Edna Purviance from drowning. The Keystone Cops aren't so quick to believe he's turned over a new leaf, however. This short marked the end of Chaplin's contract with Mutual; he subsequently made longer films like A Dog's Life and Shoulder Arms for First National. STOLEN GOODS (1924): Charley Chase (as his early "Jimmy Jump" character) is a department store clerk who has a crush on the boss's pretty daughter - who just happens to be a kleptomaniac.
