In this mushy melodrama, a kindly Canadian WW I soldier grudgingly allows himself to be
adopted by a sad spinster. Time passes and they begin to care for each other; he finally
begins calling her 'mother.' One terrible day, he is sent behind enemy lines and disappears
forever. The military sends his many medals to her. Slowly, with tear-filled eyes, she lovingly
puts the medals away and then with pride and great dignity, resumes her lonely life.
