DESCRIPTION:

Cecily Stoughton's widowed mother is intent on marrying off her only daughter into an aristocratic family, but Cecily has her heart firmly set on Ted, the country doctor. More interested in her own gain than in her daughter's happiness, Mrs. Stoughton puts a comical yet devious plan into action to get Cecily to change her mind.

Originally a Sennett Bathing Beauty, Vera Reynolds starred in a number of short films before appearing in features like Prodigal Daughters (1923), directed by Sam Wood, and Cecil B. DeMille's Feet of Clay (1924). Zasu Pitts hailed from Kansas and began her career on the stage; she was a notable comedienne throughout the silent era and is best known for her roles in Better Times (1919) and Erich von Stroheim's Greed (1924). Alan Hale was both a director and a prolific character actor, not to mention a Warner Brothers' favorite; his most notable roles include Little John in The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) and Danker in It Happened One Night (1934).
