Night Ride (1937) on DVD

Veteran truck drivers Dick Benson and Alf Higgins are fired by their crooked boss, Arthur Wilson, for insubordination. Their old pal, Tony Spinelli, puts up stake money, and he and Dick form their own trucking company. The talented drivers find great success and the Spinelli-Benson Company is soon draining business away from Wilson's company. Wilson strikes back by sending his beautiful daughter, Ruth, to seduce and distract Dick, while dispatching goons to sabotage his rival's trucks. A series of mysterious accidents sends Spinelli-Benson hurtling toward bankruptcy. In a last ditch effort to save the company, they take on a nearly impossible contract of hauling pumping equipment through impassable fog on dangerous mountain roads, in an attempt to save trapped miners.

Julien Vedey stars as Tony Spinelli and wrote the story for Night Ride. British director John Paddy Carstairs had a three decade career but is best remembered for the 1953 U.K. comedy hit, Trouble In Store, which led to a highly successful series. Character actor Wally Patch appeared in 245 films.
