Also known as Magyarok, this 1978 Hungarian drama follows a group of Hungarian peasants who leave their village to work on a large German farm during the winter of 1942/1943. Initially, they lead comfortable lives, but their perception changes as they witness the ill-treatment of prisoners of war and the harsh realities of the time. Upon returning to Hungary, they are confronted with the devastating impacts of the war. Directed by Zoltán Fábri, the film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film at the 51st Academy Awards.
