DESCRIPTION:

Frank Overton, a famous scientist is on the verge of prolonging human life and conquering disease through his experiments with cryogenics. Unable to find a human volunteer to undergo the freezing process, he prepares to use himself as a human guinea pig. After he is placed in suspended animation, police discover his unfaithful wife's dead body and accuse the scientist of murder. Comatose in a chamber of ice, Overton is unable to defend himself and emerges to find his own life in jeopardy. Part science fiction and part murder mystery, Frozen Alive was one of a handful of movies directed by renowned cinematographer Bernard Knowles, whose best works include Hitchcock's 39 StepsYoung and InnocentSecret ApartSabotage and Jamaica Inn. His later work as director includes Spaceflight IC-1 (1965) and The Beatles' television film Magical Mystery Tour(1967).

Scientist Frank Overton (Mark Stevens) is experimenting with cryogenics in an effort to prolong human life and obliterate disease. Unable to find a person willing to allow their body to be frozen, he puts his own body through the process. After police find the dead body of his wife, Overton becomes the prime suspect, even though he is in a frozen coma and can't defend himself. This sci-fi murder mystery was directed by cinematographer Bernard Knowles, who helmed Hitchcock's 39 STEPS, YOUNG AND INNOCENT, and SABOTAGE, among others. He would later direct the Beatles' MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR.
