Originally produced for Italian television, these four frightening shorts are riveting examples of the "giallo" genre at its very finest, with two segments directed by shock maestro Dario Argento early in his career. First, Luigi Cozzi helms "The Neighbour," the bone-chilling tale of a young couple living below a man with a gruesome past. Next, Argento's "The Tram" depicts the terrifying concept of a murder gone unnoticed in the midst of a large crowd. Then, a young woman hoping to solve a murder as an "Eyewitness" gets no help from police, who believe her mad. Finally, director Mario Foglietti's "The Doll" follows a lunatic out of the asylum and on to the streets. Aldo Reggiani, Laura Belli, Paola Tedesco, Riccardo Salvino, Robert Hoffmann star. 3 3/4 hrs. total. Standard; Soundtrack: Italian Dolby Digital mono; Subtitles: English; bonus documentary "Dario Argento: The Master Of Horror" (1991). In Italian with English subtitles. Two-disc set.
