One day the farmer's son Franz Santner returns after serving a prison sentence back to the village. With the pretty maid Angela he wants to start a new life. But then he kills poaching the local game warden and is sentenced to a long prison term. In desperation, Angela, who is expecting a child by Franz seeks help pastors Linhart - but does not tell him who the father of her child. When Angela is dying after birth of the baby, she asks Linhart, take the boy with him. The priest follows the last wish of the young woman - with the consequence that the outraged villagers consider him the father of the little Andreas. But against all odds and slander holds the minister firmly to his promise. 20 years later: From the Baby Andreas a vivacious young man has become. About the bad rumors of once long grass is already growing. Although it would be much better Bauer, Andreas is training his sake mentor priest. But when he falls in love with the pretty Hanni and the old Georg Santner wants the able Andreas override his farm so that he can build a future together with Hanni, the events roll over
