Charlton Heston hosts this kick-off to the summer season. The series is now re-titled The Colgate Variety Hour. Heston's guests include: actress Vera-Ellen; Sarah Vaughan; comic Johnny O'Brien; rock band Billy Ward and his Dominoes; bagpiper players The Dagenham Pipers; cyclists The Chadulis; and Frank DeVol and his Orchestra. In a salute to aviation in the movies, a clip is shown from Wings, with the film's star Richard Arlen making an in-studio visit. A scene from the current film Strategic Air Command is shown, along with an interview filmed in London with it's co-star Jimmy Stewart. Stuntman Paul Mantz, who photographed the airborne scenes for the new movie, appears to discusses his craft.
