The little Klaus is shamelessly exploited by the great Klaus under the pretext of mutual assistance. From sunrise to sunset must be stalling for him in the fields. Even when the great Klaus from infamy slays the only horse of Little Claus does not dare to stand up against its tyrant. Instead, he sold the skin of his dead Ackergauls making thanks to his shrewdness a very worthwhile business. The big Klaus sees the money from small Klaus and whether the sudden wealth seized by envy. From greed he slaughters his own, magnificent horses, to carry the good skins to the market. Because of the high price he demanded, mock him and the people chasing him away. Indignant rage, musing Big Klaus revenge on small Klaus, whom he blames for his own folly: He wants to drown him. By Prebens help and a list of the can but escape. Instead of the small Klaus Big Klaus had been lowered a bag of stones in water. When he afterwards the little Klaus happy amidst a flock of sheep seen, he is surprised and thinks its Maer a beautiful mermaid had met him and brought him to this "sea-cattle". Even the great Klaus wants to own such a wonderful herd. So he goes to the river and is a victim of his own stupidity and greed. Relieved by the burden of bondage Little Claus lives with his wife and children on to the end of his days ...
