DESCRIPTION:

Con man Charlie romances homely Tillie, the farmer's daughter, who steals her father's savings to pay for their elopement. They flee to the wicked city where Tillie is arrested for drunkenness while Charlie takes his old girlfriend, Mabel, on a shopping spree with Tillie's money. When her millionaire uncle dies, leaving Tillie the sole heir to his fortune, Charlie quickly proposes marriage, much to the girl's delight. They take up residence in the uncle's opulent mansion and Charlie hires Mabel as a maid. During one of their lavish parties, Tillie discovers Charlie in an amorous embrace with Mabel. Mayhem ensues as Tillie, with a loaded revolver in hand, sets off in hot pursuit of her unfaithful love.

Notable for being the first ever full-length comedy, Tillie's Punctured Romance helped make stars of Charlie Chaplin and Mabel Normand. Chaplin had previously appeared in 33 Mack Sennett short subjects. His comedic genius eventually made him a huge star, his most notable creation being the indelible character, "The Little Tramp."

Bonus material: "A Bandit" with Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle.
