Quick Overview

Starring Viola Savoy and Herbert Rice

Directed by W.W. Young

Print: black/white

Runtime: 52 min.

Genre: drama

Print Quality: B

Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland was first brought to the silver screen by the entrepreneurial De Witt C. Wheeler. Like most future adaptation of the Carroll novel, the film incorporated elements from its sequel, Through the Looking Glass, into the proceedings. According to contemporary reviews, the special effects were superb, with very little left to the imagination. Unfortunately, the identity of the actress who played Alice remains unknown. Extremely successful on the kiddie-matinee circuit, Alice in Wonderland would be filmed again the following year by director W.W. Young.
