Gábor Koltay and his son, Balint, swim in debt and are in the process with the brother's sibling's widow and daughter, who also inherited the ancient mansion and landslide of the family after his late brother, Gábor's deceased. When Gábor Koltay negotiates with his lawyer about the details of the case, one of the lawyer's most prominent relatives comes to the door, telling him that their wealthy brother, Menyh Gruber ( Gyula Kabos ) returns home from South America with his daughter Mary. Listening to this, Mr. Koltay returns home and sends the son of Balint with the task of getting acquainted with Mary on the train and tempting him. Their purpose is clear: to acquire Mary's dowry.
